It's all about the phase
"A brand from Japan with a totally focussed drive to minimise phase error."
About The EA-1200 Phono Amplifier
A Serious step-up in phono amplification, the EA-1200 offers a three-chassis solution comprising a separate power supply and independent left and right channel amplifiers. Phasemation define the EA-1200 as a Tube Type LCR Non-Feedback Phono Amplifier. The term refers to the use of a non-feedback discrete component inductor/capacitor/resistor network design for the RIAA equalisation network, with gain being provided by a combination of step-up transformers (MC input) and valve amplification.
The left and right channel equalisation and amplification are housed in their own individual chassis, as is the seperate mains supply, ensuring minimum interaction of vibration, RFI and magnetic fields. Each EQ/amplification module is equipped with three inputs which are selectable from the front panel, along with MM or MC gain.
The performance on offer here is exceptional. Marked by Phasemations approach to zero feedback, and zero phase shift right through the audio band, the sound quality is characterised by startling speed, naturalness, realistic tonality and great soundstage width and depth.
Tech Insight
The amplifier units have a three-position equalizer curve selector. The RIAA for stereo, Mono 1 (for use with DECCA labels) and Mono 2 (for use with Columbia labels) can be selected. The inclusion of this facility makes the EA-1200 an ideal choice for those enthusiasts who have a large mono record collection.

Matching & Setup
This high-end, three-box phono amplifier requires proper shelving and a high-quality cable loom. It should be matched with an appropriate performance turntable and can support up to three arm/cartridge combinations (one stereo, two mono). Downstream setup requires high levels of control and resolution to maximise the detail and dynamics on offer with the EA-1200. In particular, high quality valve amplification and high-efficiency speakers are a great match.
